SAN ANTONIO – Freshman Chelsea Zimmerman paced the UTSA women’s soccer team with two goals as the Roadrunners handed Central Arkansas a 4-0 defeat on Sunday at the UTSA Recreational Sports Complex. UTSA improved to 5-8-1 overall and 2-1-1 in Southland Conference play, while the Sugar Bears dropped to 5-6-1 and 1-3.
Zimmerman opened up the scoring in the first half by converting on a 19-yard free kick that found the top-right corner of the goal at the 13 minute mark. She connected again by heading in Celeste Carruth’s free kick at the 55:07 mark and now has a team-high seven goals this season.
Holli McGue and Dinky Lopez also added goals for the Roadrunners in the second frame. UTSA scored on two of their five corner kicks, while Central Arkansas failed to score on their five tries.
Goalkeeper Rachel Francis recorded five saves during the match.
The Roadrunners return to SLC action on Friday, Oct. 13, at Nicholls State.
