AUSTIN – The UTSA womens soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at Texas Friday night in an exhibition match played at Myers Stadium.

Junior goalie Rachel Francis collected nine saves on the night, while freshman Veronica Najera had the only shot for the Roadrunners.

Texas scored first when senior Amy Burlingham netted a goal with 20:51 left in the first half. The Longhorns then pushed their lead 2-0 off a corner kick from the right side at the 39:24 mark. In the second half, UT upped its lead to 3-0 on an own goal by the Roadrunners.

The Roadrunners officially kick off theirinaugural campaign on Friday, Aug. 25, with a home match against Texas Tech.

Prior to the opener against the Red Raiders, there willbe a kickoff party with free food, prizes and a live band beginning at 5:30 p.m. near the UTSA Track & Field Complex, The Roadrunners then will take the field at 7 p.m. for their first-ever match at the UTSA Recreational Sports Complex.
