SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women’s soccer team begins preparation for its inaugural season with an exhibition match at Big 12 conference member Texas on Friday. Admission is free at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Texas is coming off an 11-9-1 (6-4 Big 12) season in 2005. The Longhorns return 15 letterwinners, including 10 starters from last year's squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Head coach Steve Ballard will lead his squad to its first-ever athletics competition before officially kicking off the 2006 campaign at home on Friday, Aug. 25, against Texas Tech.

Prior to the Roadrunners’ home opener against the Red Raiders, there will be a kickoff party with free food, prizes and a live band beginning at 5:30 p.m. near the UTSA Track & Field Complex, The Roadrunners then will take the field at 7 p.m. for their first-ever match at the UTSA Recreational Sports Complex.
