SLC releases preseason soccer polls
FRISCO – The UTSA women’s soccer team was picked to finish seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 2006 Southland Conference preseason polls as voted upon by the coaches and sports information directors, the league’s office announced Thursday. Defending regular season champs Stephen F. Austin was picked to defend it title thisseason.
Entering its first season, UTSA tallied 26 points in the coaches poll and 21 points in the SID rankings.
The Roadrunners open the season on Aug. 18 when they travel to Austin for an exhibition match against Texas.
UTSA begins regular season play a week later when it hosts Texas Tech on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m.
