SAN ANTONIO – UTSA freshman Andy Benedict and junior Blake Brannon are among the 26 players picked for the Roger Hornsby All-Star Team, for the 2006 Brookshire’s McCormick All-Star Game. The games will played on Monday, July 10, at the Roger Williams Ballpark in Weatherford, Texas. First pitch is set for 7:35 p.m. and the game will be televised by FOX Sports Southwest Network.
This summer, Benedict is sporting a 2-1 mark with a 1.14 earned run average in 31.2 innings and a save for the Minerals Wells Steam. The Lewisville, Texas, native has recorded 14 strikeouts, while walking just two.
Brannon, who plays for the Denton Outlaws, has a 2-0 record with a 3.15 ERA in 20 innings of action. Brannon has punched out 19 batters, while issuing six walks. The Brenham, Texas, native has appeared in five games, while making four starts this summer.
