HOLYOKE, Mass. - UTSA outfielder Phillip Allen (right) was selected to the New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Team, NECBL Commissioner Kevin MacIlvane announced on Sunday.
Allen, who will be a junior in 2007, is leading the Holyoke Giants in several offensive categories this summer. He leads the team in hits (26), runs (18), walks (20), on-base percentage (.362) and stolen bases (12).
This past spring for the Roadrunners, Allen appeared in 42 games and started 27 contests. The Fort Bend, Texas, native reached base at .370 clip, was second on the team with 10 stolen bases and ranked fourth with 22 walks.
The NECBL All-Star Game is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, July 23.
