Chance named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American

SAN ANTONIO - University of Texas at San Antonio senior Meghan Chance has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America second team as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Chance, a San Antonio Reagan High product, boasts a 3.97 grade point average in psychology. She is one of 18 student-athletes selected to the second team and the only one from the Southland Conference on any of the three All-America squads.

The 2004 and 2005 SLC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year, Chance is a three-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI first team selection and a three-time SLC All-Academic team member. She won a conference title as a member of the distance medley relay team at the 2004 SLC Indoor Championships, helping the quartet break the school record. Chance also posted top-eight league finishes in the 800 meters three times during her career.

Chance is heavily involved in community service. She is a Golden Key Honor Society member, secretary of the UTSA Student-Athlete Advisory Board, a seventh grade Sunday school teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a volunteer with the San Antonio city-wide “Go Kids Challenge” children’s fitness walk in 2004 and the UTSA Women’s Walk. A participant in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Chance has also been a speaker at Community Baptist Church.
