Wolfe named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American
SAN ANTONIO - University of Texas at San Antonio senior Bryan Wolfe has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Wolfe, a native of Raymondville, totes a 3.66 grade point average in actuarial science and is one of 18 student-athletes on the third team, the only Southland Conference (SLC) selection on all three teams. He has been named SLC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year for the past two seasons and is the reigning outdoor honoree, with this season’s voting still to come.
A standout in the combined events, Wolfe won the SLC Outdoor title in the decathlon with 6,887 points on May 13-14 in Arlington. He capped his UTSA career by finishing 11th with 7,111 points at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 7-8 in Sacramento, Calif., earning an at-large spot in the NCAA field by posting a personal best 7,260 points at the Texas Relays in April.
Wolfe is a member of the UTSA Honors Program and Junior Achievement Program and the Huddle Leader for UTSA Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His extracurricular activities also include serving on the Babcock Highway Clean-up project for the UTSA athletics department, public speaking engagements with local elementary schools for the UTSA Honors Program and teaching junior high students about business fields and opportunities.
