Vese advances to NCAA Championships, UTSA finishes in 14th place

AUSTIN – Sophomore William Vese (right) finished third in the 110m hurdles (13.92) and qualified for the national championship meet during Saturday?s action at the NCAA Midwest Regional. The Roadrunners finished the meet in 14th place with 17 team points.

Vese joined sophomore Steven Brown, who qualified Friday night in the long jump (school-record 7.79m), and senior Bryan Wolfe, who earned a provisional mark in the decathlon (7,260 points) earlier this season.

Other Roadrunners in action on Saturday included UTSA's 4x400m relay team of junior Scott Briscoe, seniors T.R. Sissel and David Burnett and freshman Gaston Griffin (fifth/3:08.30), junior Larry Brooks (eighth/800m/1:51.84), Sissel (eighth/400m hurdles/52.40), junior Benson Cheserek (14th/3000m steeplechase/9:29.59) and senior Joseph Burton (13th/javelin/58.32m).

The NCAA Championships will take place June 7-10 at Sacramento State's A.G.Spanos Sports Complex.
