SAN ANTONIO - Fifteen individuals will represent the UTSA men’s and women’s track and field teams at the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Texas this Friday-Saturday, May 26-27, at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Field events get underway at 1 p.m. Friday with running events beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday’s action starts with field events at 1 and running finals at 5:30 p.m.

SLC Outdoor Recap:
Behind individual champions Larry Brooks, T.R. Sissel and Bryan Wolfe, the UTSA men finished second with 131 points at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships held May 13-15 in Arlington, Texas. Brooks clocked a 1:51.36 to take top honors in the 800 meters for the second time in three years, while Sissel picked up his first individual crown with a 51.83 effort in the 400m hurdles. Wolfe tallied 6,887 points to win the decathlon. The women finished fourth with 85 points behind an impressive showing in the 800m. Veronica Silva clocked a 2:12.79 to lead a 32-point performance as five Roadrunners placed in the top six in the race. Sam Houston State swept both team titles.

2005 Midwest Regional Rewind:
At the 2005 NCAA Midwest Regional in Norman, Okla., the UTSA women finished 20th with 14 points behind top-five finishes from Rosalind Holmes and Ryanne Dupree, while the men were 22nd with seven points from Curtis Johnson and T.R. Sissel, who is the only returning qualifier (400m hurdles). The men’s 4x100m relay of Johnson, Sissel, Steven Brown and Cedric Harris set a then school record of 40.15 in the prelims.
