UTSA set to host Dallas Baptist at Roadrunner Field

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA baseball team (36-19) wraps up its regular season before heading out to the Southland Conference Tournament with a single game against Dallas Baptist (32-21) this Monday, May 22, at Roadrunner Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. This is a make-up for a game lost earlier in the season.

UTSA and DBU met in a three-game series in Dallas on March 2-4. The Roadrunners came out with the road sweep over the Patriots. This will be the eight meeting between these two clubs, with DBU leading the all-time series 4-3 over the Runners.

Freshman Andy Benedict will make his third start this season. Benedict, a lefty from Lewisville, Texas, is 2-0 with a 6.11 earned run average. In his previous start, Benedict went five strong innings, scattered six hits, gave up three runs and struck out a career-high eight batters.

UTSA travels Beaumont for the SLC Tournament as the No. 3 seed and will face host Lamar - the No. 4 seed - at Vincent-Beck Stadium on May 24 at 7 p.m.
