McKennon named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - UTSA junior outfielder Michael McKennon has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI Second Team for his performance on the field and in the classroom.

McKennon (right) was one of 13 student-athletes chosen to the team from Division I universities in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

The Pearland, Texas native, is a marketing major with a 3.5 GPA. McKennon is having a career year with nine home runs, 70 hits and a .359 batting average. He ranks first on the team with a .579 slugging percentage. He has 10 doubles and three triples this season, while scoring 37 times. He has collected 38 RBI, which is second best on the team.
