Dunson named to 2005-06 Hibernia Bank/SLC All-Academic First Team
PLANO, Texas - UTSA senior Nicole Dunson was named to the 2006 Hibernia Bank/Southland Conference Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team, the league office announced Thursday.
Dunson garnered third team All-SLC honors after she averaged 9.1 points per game for the Roadrunners. She drained 52 3-pointers for the year, the second-best in school history, led the league in 3-point field goal percentage (.441) and shot 45 percent from the field. She was also named a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-American Athlete following her senior season. Dunson, who already has her undergraduate degree, is working toward a master’s degree in education. She is second all-time with 98 career made 3-pointers and is the all-time leader in 3-point field goal percentage (42 percent).
Joining Dunson on the first team academic squad is Texas-Arlington’s Maryann Abanobi, who was named the 2005-06 Hibernia Bank/Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Year, Lamar’s LaToya Carson, Joyce Ekworomadu from Texas State, Stephanie Trachier from Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin’s Brittany Vinson.
