Round Three Pairings
KINGWOOD, Texas – UTSA senior John Elizondo fired a one-under par 71 Tuesday and increased his lead on the rest of the Southland Conference Men’s Golf Championship field to four strokes after 36 holes at Deerwood Country Club (par 72 / 7,108 yards).
Elizondo entered the second round in first place by two shots after carding a five-under 67 on Monday. He followed with a 71 today and sits at six-under 138 with 18 holes to play. Bobby Hutcherson of Texas State and Aaron O’Callaghan of Southeastern Louisiana are tied for second at two-under 142.
Behind Elizondo’s 138, UTSA is in fourth place in a tight team race with a 292-295=587. Louisiana-Monroe took over first at 579 with a second-round 288, while Lamar used a 287 to move all the way into a tie for second with Texas-Arlington at 583.
Also for UTSA, freshman Kyle Collins is tied for 18th at four-over 73-75=148, while sophomore Nick Olivarri is right behind him in a tie for 20th at 74-75=149. Junior Matt Johnston is tied for 29th at 78-74=152 and sophomore Shane Costelloe is tied for 37th at 78-79=157.
The third round tees off at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
