KYLE, Texas – Led by top-15 finishes from the freshman duo of Laura Baker and Allie Jordan, the UTSA women’s golf team finished 10th at the CenturyTel Bobcat Classic held Monday-Tuesday at Plum Creek Golf Club (par 72/5,984 yards).
Baker and Jordan (right) tied for 15th place in the 73-person field, helping the Roadrunners to a 10th-place team finish out of 14 squads. UTSA carded rounds of 337, 338 and 321 for a 54-hole total of 996.
Both Baker and Jordan fought their way up the individual standings Tuesday, firing a pair of two-over-par 74s in finishing at 237. Baker turned in an 82 and an 81 on Monday, while Jordan opened with a 79 and an 84.
Freshman Jenna Wessels finished 44th with an 83-85-85=253, while sophomore Michelle Kowalick and freshman Neely Hutchins took 57th (269) and 61st (274), respectively.
Louisiana-Monroe won the team title with a 939, followed by Lamar (943), McNeese State (953), Texas State (955) and Texas-Pan American (957). Emily Kvinta of St. Edward’s took medalist honors with a 74-73-75=222.
The Roadrunners travel to Kingwood, Texas, to compete in their first-ever South;and Conference Championship next Monday-Wednesday, April 10-12.
