SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team improved to 2-1 in the Southland Conference with a 7-0 win over Texas-Pan American Saturday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (5-7) took the doubles point as sophomore Adam Becker and senior Joe Olfindo combined for an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles and seniors Anthony Portois and Jonas Hoglund took an 8-4 decision at No. 2 to clinch the 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
UTSA was dominant in singles, winning all six matches. Portois was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at No. 1, while freshman Andre Moreira won at No. 2, 6-4, 7-5. Senior Hetori Chaves, freshmen Robin Fernandes and Shaun Michael Stewart and Becker also were winners.
The Roadrunners travel to Austin to face Texas on Wednesday, March 22.
