UTSA women’s tennis cruises past Northwestern State, 6-1, in Southland Conference action

NATCHITOCHES, La – The UTSA women’s tennis team extended its Southland Conference winning streak to two matches with a 6-1 win over Northwestern State on Saturday at the Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.

UTSA started off the day winning all three doubles matches. Karen Scida and Sandra Kukla won at the No. 1 doubles match with a 8-6 win over Magali Van den Bergh and Fernanda Silva, 8-6.

In singles action, the Roadrunners breezed through the first four matches in straight sets. Nathalie Wallin got the 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1, followed by Kukla’s 6-2, 6-3 victory over Fernanda Silva at No. 2 singles. Tanya Hasking dropped a tough match against Daniela Posada of Northwestern State, 1-6, 7-6, 5-7, while Ana Paula Soto ended the day winning at the No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0, over Helen Grimes of Northwestern State.

UTSA continues its road swing to Monroe, La., for a SLC match against the Lady Indians of Louisiana-Monroe on March 12.
