UTSA men's tennis blanks Oral Roberts, 7-0

Norman, Okla. - The UTSA men's tennis team blanked Oral Roberts, 7-0, Saturday morning at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla.

The Roadrunners improve their record to 4-7 overall.

UTSA won the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. Adam Becker and Hetori Chaves pairedup at the No. 2 doubles, were they defeated Clemons Geercken and Eddie Paez of Oral Roberts, 8-4. Joe Olfindo and Shaun Stewart clinched the doubles point with a 8-5 win over Antonio Salopek and Patrick Gilliod of ORU.

In singles action, UTSA swept all six matches. At the No. 1 Anthony Portois handed Tyrone Hill a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 defeat. Robin Fernandes won in straight sets of 6-1 and 6-1 over ORU's Cuan Farquharson, while Olfindo dropped the first set 5-7 to Geercken, but bounced back to win the next two sets by scores of 6-4 and 6-1. Also collecting wins for UTSA were Becker in three sets and Chaves and Stewart each won their matches in straight sets.

UTSA men's tennis team returns home for a Southland Conference match against Texas-Pan American on March 18, at the UTSA Tennis Courts at noon.
