Norman - The UTSA men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the No.39 ranked Oklahoma Sooners Friday afternoon at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla.
OU won the doubles point by taking two of three matches. Freshman Robin Fernandes and sophomore Adam Becker team up at the No. 2 doubles for the 8-6 upset win over senior Tommy Garrison and sophomore Federico Chavarria of Oklahoma.
In singles matches, the Sooners won all six matches. Portois was handed a 6-3, 6-2 loss by OU's junior Marke Velicka. At the No. 2 singles match, Senior Alexis Ivanov dealt Fernandes a 6-3, 6-2 loss. Oklahoma's Garrison and freshman Sergov Avdeyev scored easy wins of 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Chaves and Stewart both dropped their matches.
UTSA men's tennis team returns to action March 11, with a match against Oral Roberts at the Headington Family Tennis Courts in Norman, Okla.
