Dupree finishes fourth, Buteaux 12th at NCAA Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – UTSA senior Ryanne Dupree broke her own school record in the pentathlon, picking up her third All-America certificate with a fourth-place finish Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at Randal Tyson Track Center. Senior All-American Brandon Buteaux finished 12th in the men’s heptathlon.

Dupree scored 4,193 points for fourth in a competitive pentathlon competition, finishing just 31 points behind Saskia Triesscheijn of Virginia Tech for third (5,224). Arizona State’s Jacquelyn Johnson won the title with 4,287 points, while Julie Pickler of Washington State was second with 4,267.

The 2006 Southland Conference Women’s Indoor Athlete of the Year and the 2005 SLC Outdoor Athlete of the Year, Dupree bettered her previous personal-best of 4,055 posted in winning the conference meet in February. She posted marks of 8.61 in the 60-meter hurdles, 5-8 in the high jump, 39-3 in the shot put, 19-8 ľ in the long jump and 2:21.87 in the 800m.

Buteaux, the school record-holder and an indoor All-American last year at this meet, scored 5,292 points to finish 12th in the heptathlon. He posted marks of 7.31 in the 60m, 21-10 Ľ in the long jump, 40-4 Ľ in the shot put, 6-3 Ľ in the high jump, 8.33 in the 60m hurdles, 14-9 in the pole vault and 2:49.11 in the 1,000m.

With Dupree's five points, the UTSA women tied for 39th place in the team standings. Texas won with 51 points, followed by Stanford (36) and Arizona State (30). Arkansas captured the men's crown.
