Buteaux, Dupree ready for NCAA Indoor Championships

SAN ANTONIO - Senior All-Americans Brandon Buteaux and Ryanne Dupree will represent the UTSA track and field teams at the NCAA Indoor Championships this Friday-Saturday, March 10-11, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

Buteaux is aiming for his second straight indoor All-America certificate after finishing seventh in the heptathlon at last year’s meet. The last qualifier in the field, he broke Justin Youngblood’s school record with 5,519 points. This season, Buteaux enters the 16-man field ranked 12th with a season-best 5,437 posted at last week’s Idaho State Intermountain Championships.

Dupree, a two-time All-American outdoors in the heptathlon, is qualified for her second consecutive NCAA Indoor pentathlon competition. A two-time Southland Conference Athlete of the Year, she broke her own school record in the pentathlon twice this season, scoring 4,055 points to win the conference meet. She ranks fifth in the field of 18.
