WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - The UTSA men’s golf team finished in a three-way tie for 10th place at the Orange County National Xavier Invitational held Saturday-Sunday at Crooked Cat Golf Course (par 72 / 7,277 yards).
The Roadrunners carded rounds of 290, 300 and 293 for a 54-hole total of 19-over-par 883 to tie with Wisconsin and Rhode Island. Lamar won the team title with a 31-under 833, followed by Xavier (852), Eastern Michigan (858), UNC Greensboro (865) and Iowa State (866).
Individually, sophomore transfer Thomas Kearney led all UTSA players, tying for 33rd with a 71-76-73—220. Freshman Kyle Collins, junior Matt Johnston and sophomore Shane Costelloe were close behind in a tie for 43rd at 223, while senior John Elizondo tied for 55th (226).
Lamar’s Andrew Landry and Justin Harding and Eastern Michigan’s Graham Hill tied for individual medalist honors at eight-under 208.
The Roadrunners return to the course on March 20-21 at the Ron Moore Invitational in Goodyear, Ariz.
