Owens named Aeropostale/SLC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

PLANO, Texas – UTSA senior Andre Owens has been voted the Aeropostale/Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 24 points and 7.5 rebounds and turning in his third double-double of the season last week.

Owens averaged 24 points, 7.5 assists, 6.5 rebounds and 5 steals per game last week as the Roadrunners went 1-1 for the week and stayed alive for a berth in the SLC Tournament. In a 71-68 win against Stephen F. Austin on Thursday, Owens posted his third double-double of the year with 22 points and 10 assists to go along with six steals and six boards. He turned in a game-high 26 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals in the 90-87 loss at second-place Sam Houston on Saturday. Owens continues to rank second in the league in scoring at 17.8 points per game.
