UTSA women's golf set for spring opener

Season Outlook

SAN ANTONIO - The UTSA women's golf team will travel to Corpus Christi, Texas, to compete in the Ed Hicks Nissan Islander Classic on Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 20-21, at Corpus Christi Country Club.

The Roadrunners will face a tough field that includes host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Bradley, Lamar, McClennan College, McNeese State, Missouri State, Northeastern, North Texas, Oral Roberts, Redlands, Sam Houston State, Southern Illinois, Texas State, Texas-Pan American and Arkansas-Little Rock.

There will be 36 holes played on Monday followed by the final 18 on Tuesday.

Competing in its first season, UTSA posted two top-five team finishes last fall, including a third-place showing at the Lady Cardinal Invitational in the program's debut.

Individually, freshman Laura Baker led the team with an 80.09 scoring average over 11 rounds. Sophomore transfer Stephanie Perez (80.73) and freshman Allie Jordan (81.45) were right behind.
