Nicole Dunson named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – UTSA senior guard Nicole Dunson has been named to the 2005-06 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI First Team for her performance on the court and in the classroom.
Dunson was one of five student-athletes chosen to the team from Division I universities in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
The Corpus Christi native was the 2004-05 Southland Conference (SLC) Student-Athlete of the Year for women’s basketball. She graduated in May 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in biology with a 3.92 GPA. Currently she is working toward her master’s degree in psychology.
Dunson ranks sixth in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage at 46.9 percent. She also tops the SLC and her team in this category. She ranks second on the squad with 10.2 points per game. Dunson has guided UTSA to a 13-8 overall mark and an 8-3 mark in conference play. On the year, she has connected on 44-of-92 3-pointers. She sits third on the all-time UTSA career list with 91 3-pointers made.
Dunson will now appear on the Academic All-America ballot which will be released later this week.
