All-Time Series
The Longhorns led the all-time series 16-3. Texas has won the last 11 consecutive meetings against the Roadrunners. The last time UTSA defeated Texas was on Feb. 9, 1999 (11-10).

Last Outing
UTSA’s offense put up a five spot in the first inning, en route to a 9-6 win over Utah and take the season series. Junior Ryan Saltzgaber paced UTSA with three hits, while sophomore Zach Etheredge collected two runs batted in. Junior pitcher Josh Blakley came in relief and picked up his first win as a Roadrunner. Blakley went two innings, allowing one run on one hit, while striking out two batters. Senior Noah Tritz picked up his second save on the year. He pitched one inning, allowed no runs and no hits.

New Season, Better Start
Last season, UTSA dropped its first four games, but this year the Roadrunners split in their four games. A year ago, UTSA opened the season 0-11. Their first did not come until March 9, 2005.

Big Inning Lifts UTSA
The Roadrunners used a five-run inning in Sunday’s game in the bottom of the first inning to give UTSA the early advantage.

To The Rescue
Closer Noah Tritz helped the Roadrunners this weekend, as he picked up two saves against Utah. He posted a 0.00 earn run average, fanning three and allowing no hits in three innings of work.

Scouting Texas Longhorns
No. 12 Tulane snapped Texas’ three-game winning streak with a 4-2 win on Feb. 12 at the Houston College Classic in Houston, Texas. UT is led by Clay Van Hook who is batting a team-best .462. Nick peoples and Chance Wheeless each top the team with eight hits apiece. Kyle McCulloch ranks first with 12 strike outs and is second on the team with a 1.74 earn run average.

Not Once But Twice
Houston managed to rally twice in the game. Down 7-4, the Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the game to extra innings. Again trailing by three runs (10-7) Houston rallied in the bottom of the 10th, scoring four runs to get the win.

Just A Little Patience
UTSA showed patience at the home plate against Houston pitching. The Runners drew 11 walks, with Voyles and Allen collecting three walks apiece.

Runners Picked Fifth
Although winning the 2005 SLC Tournament, the Roadrunners were showed love from the conference. UTSA was picked to finish fifth in both pre-season polls.

Saltzgaber Earns First-Team
Third baseman Ryan Saltzgaber was the lone Runner to be selected 2006 SLC Pre-Season first-team.

Voyles And Vasquez Garner Second-Team All SLC
Second baseman Voyles and right-handed pitcher Vasquez earned second-team all-conference this season.
