Roadrunners edge Laredo Junior College

SAN ANTONIO - The UTSA men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a narrow 4-3 win against Laredo Junior College on Saturday at the UTSA Tennis Center.

UTSA lost the doubles point after losing at No. 1, 8-6, and No. 3, 9-8. Anthony Portois and Hetori Chaves combined for the only double victory at No. 2, 8-1.

The Roadrunners came back with some key victories in singles play, winning four matches. Portois took a 6-1, 6-3 decision at No. 1, while Andre Moreira was a 6-0, 6-4 winner at No. 2.

Joe Michael Olfindo won at No. 5, 6-2, ret., and Chaves picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6.

The Roadrunners return to the court on Friday, Feb. 17, with the Southland Conference opener at Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, La.
