UTSA opens 2006 season at Las Cruces Hilton Invitational

SAN ANTONIO - Coming off one of the best seasons in school history, the UTSA softball team opens the 2006 campaign this Friday-Sunday, Feb. 10-12, at the Las Cruces Hilton Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M. The Roadrunners face Portland State on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Central time and Colorado State on Friday at 3 p.m. UTSA then plays a pair on Saturday against Utah at 12:30 and New Mexico State at 8 p.m., before closing out the tournament against Ohio State on Sunday at 12:30.

2005 Rewind:
UTSA enjoyed one of the best seasons in program history in 2005, posting a 42-18 record and winning a second straight Southland Conference regular season title with a 21-5 mark. The Roadrunners broke numerous offensive records and led the NCAA in home runs per game for the third consecutive season, slugging 103 in 60 games for a 1.72 average. Individually, 11 Roadrunners earned all-conference recognition headlines by SLC Player and Hitter of the Year Jessica Rogers. Other first team honorees were Jennifer Davis (OF), Jessica Els (C), Stacey Gillespie (OF) and Aimee Murray (SS).
