PLANO, Texas - UTSA senior All-American Ryanne Dupree has been named Southland Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for her record-setting performance over the weekend, the league office announced Tuesday.
Dupree broke two school records at the Zia Classic/New Mexico Invitational held last Friday-Saturday in the Albuquerque Convention Center. On Friday, Dupree won the pentathlon with an NCAA provisional-qualifying 4,035 points, breaking her own school record of 3,979 set last season. That point total won the event by 298 points and places her at the top of the SLC list and third nationally.
The East Central High School product came back Saturday to win the 60-meter hurdles ahead of a pair of Florida hurdlers in 8.44 seconds, a time that broke her own school standard by .07 seconds. That also is the top mark in the league and was just .01 seconds off the NCAA provisional qualifier.
J.D. Henry of Northwestern State won the men’s weekly honor.
