UTSA Men’s Track & Field to open indoor season Saturday

SAN ANTONIO - The UTSA men’s track and field team will open the 2006 indoor season on Saturday, Jan. 14, when they travel to Houston to compete in the Houston Indoor Opener at Bill Yeoman Field House.

The non-scored meet gets underway with field events at 9 a.m. and running events at noon. For complete meet information and results, please visit http://uhcougars.com.

Head coach Aaron Fox welcomes back a loaded team headlined by senior All-American Brandon Buteaux, who set the school record and won a conference title in the indoor heptathlon last season. Senior David Burnett is back to defend his conference crown in the 400 meters, while junior Larry Brooks returns as one of the top half-milers in the region. Seniors T.R. Sissel, a national qualifier in the 400m hurdles last year, and Bryan Wolfe, the 2005 Southland Conference Men’s Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year return and a talented but young sprint crew of sophomores Steven Brown, Dominic Brown and Cedric Harris looks to continue upon last year’s success.
