Rose Monday named Team USA women’s head coach for 2006 World Juniors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UTSA head cross country and assistant track and field coach Rose Monday has been named head women’s coach for Team USA at the 2006 IAAF World Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held on Aug. 15-20 in Beijing, China. The announcement was made as part of the 2005 Annual USATF Meeting held last week.

“I am excited and honored to be named head women’s coach for World Juniors,” said Monday, who is in her fifth season with the Roadrunners. “This event will be feature some of the top teenagers on the planet plus it will be a dry run for the 2008 Summer Olympics held in the same venue, so it should be a lot of fun.”

Monday will be joined on the women’s staff by assistant coaches Kerry Lane, Quingyi Zheng, Rhan Sheffield, Sharifa Barksdale and head manager Cedric Walker. The men’s staff is made up of head coach Robert Weir and assistant coaches Linda Lanker, John McDonnell, Boo Schexnayder, Harvey Glance and Ken Brauman.
