Box Score

IOWA CITY, IOWA - Adam Haluska led four Iowa players with 15 points as the No. 18 Hawkeyes scored a 79-46 victory over the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Iowa, which improved to 4-1 with the win, also received 14 points from Greg
Brunner, while Jeff Horner added 13, and Alex Thompson, 11.

UTSA, which fell to 2-1, was led by senior Andre Owens (Irving, Texas) with
15 points, while Gabe Bernard (Los Angeles, Calif.) came off the bench to add
11.

In the first half the Roadrunners were very much in the game and trailed
21-20 after a jump shot by Chris Thompson (Austin, Texas) with 6:22 to play in the opening half.

Iowa closed the half with a 15-1 run led by nine points from Horner who had
three straight jump shots in one stretch, including a 3-pointer. With the late
burst, the Hawkeyes led 36-21 at halftime.

UTSA could get no closer than 11 points in the second half when Owens scored a layup with 17:58 to play to cut the lead to 38-27.

Brunner had 10 points in the second half as Iowa capitalized on 23 UTSA
turnovers and the Hawkeyes were able to build as much as a 36-point lead.

Bernard connected on three 3-point field goals in the game and now leads the
Roadrunners with seven on the season.

Iowa had a total of 25 points off of UTSA turnovers, and outscored the
Roadrunners 38-24 in the paint. UTSA shot 35.7 percent from the field on 20 of 56 shooting.

"I was disappointed that we weren't more aggressive going to the basket,"
said UTSA coach Tim Carter, who saw his team convert only two of five free throws on the game. "Iowa shot 31 free throws primarily because they were the more aggressive team"

The Roadrunners will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 30 with a 7 p.m.
home game against the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders. It will be the start
of four straight at home as Murray State (Dec. 3), Texas-Pan American (Dec. 6) and Jackson State (Dec. 11) will follow.

"We need to return home and get focused to play a tough Corpus Christi team
on Wednesday," Carter said. "They have built a good program there and we will have our hands full."
