WACO, Texas – Juniors Veronica Silva and Cornelio Castanon wrapped up the 2005 cross country season with top-80 finishes at the NCAA South Central Regional hosted by Baylor on Saturday at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.

Silva followed her All-Southland Conference performance on Oct. 31 with a 50th-place showing in the 122-person women’s field. She covered the 6,000-meter loop in 23:25.80 to put a cap on a successful junior campaign highlighted by a seventh-place finish at the SLC Championships.

Castanon timed 34:40.10 in the men’s 10,000 meters to take 78th place, following his 20th-place performance at the conference meet two weeks ago.

Westly Keating of Texas-Pan American won the men’s race in 29:30.75, while Brittany Brockman of Baylor was the top women’s finisher in 20:47.20. Arkansas and Texas earned the two automatic bids to the NCAA Championships on the men’s side and Arkansas and Baylor finished 1-2 for the women.
