Roadrunners set for fall finale at Del Walker Intercollegiate

SAN ANTONIO - The UTSA men’s golf team will travel to Long Beach, Calif., to compete in their final fall tournament of the season, the Del Walker Intercollegiate on Thursday-Friday, Nov. 3-4, at Virginia Country Club (6,631 yards / par 71).

The Roadrunners will face a tough field that includes Colorado State, Houston, Kansas, Lamar, Long Beach State, Nevada, North Texas, San Jose State, Texas-El Paso, Texas-San Antonio, UC Santa Barbara and Washington State. The players will play 36 holes with a shotgun start on Thursday followed by 18 holes on Friday. Live scoring is available at http://golfstat.com.

UTSA is coming off an eighth-place showing at the Baylor Invitational on Oct. 10-11. Sophomore transfer Thomas Kearney leads the squad with a 74.67 stroke average and a ninth-place tie at the Mean Green Classic, while junior Matt Johnston has a 75.22 average and a fifth-place finish at the Adams Cup of Newport.

At last year’s Del Walker, sophomore Nick Olivarri finished second with a 54-hole total of three-under-par 210, one shot behind individual winner Barrett Jarosch of Denver (209). Two years ago, the Roadrunners finished second to UC Riverside in the team standings by just two strokes, 855-857.
