Final Results

JONESBORO, Ark. – Sophomore transfer Stephanie Perez tied for second place to lead the UTSA women’s golf team to a tie for fourth at the Lady Indian Classic hosted by Arkansas State on Tuesday at Sage Meadows Golf Course (6,104 yards / par 72).

Perez followed her opening-round, three-over-par 75 with a 74 Tuesday to move into a tie for second place at five-over 149 in the 80-player field. Perez, Angela Drane and Sara Larsson of Louisiana-Monroe finished just two strokes behind individual medalist Jennifer Heinz of Sam Houston State, who fired a one-under 71 Tuesday to finish at three-over 147.

Perez’ effort helped the Roadrunners climb from seventh place to a tie for fourth in the final team standings in just their second collegiate golf tournament. UTSA posted a nine-shot improvement from its opening-round 317 on Monday with a 308 Tuesday for the 36-hole total of 625. UTSA and Murray State were just two strokes back of Texas State (623) for third and only eight back of team champion Sam Houston State (617). Louisiana-Monroe was second (621).

Freshman Laura Baker also finished in the top 10, tying for 10th place with a 10-over 78-76=154, while freshman Allie Jordan tied for 18th at 80-77=157. Freshman Jenna Wessels and sophomore Michelle Kowalick tied for 51st (166) and 72nd (175), respectively.

The Roadrunners return to the course on Oct. 24-25 when they travel to Huntsville, Texas, for the Ellingson Fall Classic at Waterwood National Golf Club.
