PLANO, Texas - Junior libero Erin McMillan has been named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
McMillan recorded a season-high 25 digs, her fifth 20-dig match of the year, in a 3-1 loss at Stephen F. Austin last Tuesday, Sept. 20. She averaged 6.25 digs per game and also chipped in with three assists and one service ace. McMillan leads the Roadrunners (4-6, 1-2 SLC) and ranks second in the SLC in digs with 5.06 per game (167 digs). She stands seventh on the school’s career chart with 1,228 digs, 37 shy of Leslie Dodson for sixth.
It marks the second weekly honor of the season for McMillan as she shared Defensive Player of the Week accolades with SFA’s Stephanie Figgers on Sept. 6.
Alisha Fowler of Sam Houston State was named SLC Offensive Player of the Week.
UTSA returns to action with a pair of league matches this weekend at the Convocation Center. The Roadrunners face Nicholls State on Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m., and Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m.
