McMillan named SLC Volleyball co-Defensive Player of the Week

PLANO, Texas - UTSA junior Erin McMillan (San Antonio/Churchill HS) has been named Southland Conference Volleyball co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

McMillan posted match highs in digs in all three matches for UTSA as the Roadrunners finished second at the Charlotte/SpringHill Suites Invitational over the weekend. McMillan had 21 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Delaware and 23 digs in a 3-2 loss to Middle Tennessee, a 6-1 team that owns a victory at Georgia this season. McMillan moved into eighth place on UTSA's career digs list (1,120 digs).

McMillan shared the honor with Stephanie Figgers of Stephen F. Austin. Figgers was named the tournament MVP over the weekend at the Iowa State Cyclone Classic. The junior libero averaged 5.25 digs in four matches, helping the SFA Ladyjacks defeat Drake, South Dakota State, Montana and the hosting Cyclones en route to winning the tournament title. Figgers also picked up nine assists and five service aces for the week.

Laura Cramer of SFA was named Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week. The junior outside hitter posted a .281 hitting percentage, helping SFA claim the Iowa State Cyclone Classic title over the weekend. She averaged 4.44 kills and 2.38 digs in the Ladyjacks? win over Drake, South Dakota State, Montana and tournament host Iowa State. Cramer also had nine assists, four service aces and 10 total blocks in the tournament.
