SAN ANTONIO - The UTSA Athletic Department announced that Hurricane Katrina evacuees with identification from the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama will be admitted free along with their families to the 2005 UTSA Dome Rally women's collegiate volleyball tournament this Friday through Sunday, Sept. 9-11 at the downtown Alamodome.
The Dome Rally will feature some of the top women's collegiate volleyball teams in the nation as UTSA will be joined by Texas A&M, Louisiana State, Southern California, Florida, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Rice for the three-day tournament. Four matches will be played each day with starting times at 11 a.m., 1:30, 4:30 and 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday's matches will begin at 11 a.m., 1, 3 and 5 p.m. The Dome Rally will be the kickoff to the 2005 women's volleyball season that will culminate on Dec. 15-17 when San Antonio will host the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championships at the Alamodome.
In addition to the free tickets being offered to evacuees, UTSA student-athletes will be at the Rally to take cash donations, with anyone contributing $25 receiving a complimentary ticket for the day. UTSA students with identification will also be admitted free to the Rally.
A free autograph session with members of all teams will be conducted following each match on Saturday.
