Roadrunners head to Corpus Christi for non-conference road match

SAN ANTONIO – Fresh off a runner-up performance at the Charlotte/SpringHill Suites Invitational over the weekend, the UTSA volleyball team travels to Corpus Christi, Texas, for a non-conference road match at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday, Sept. 6. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Moody Fieldhouse.

The Roadrunners went 2-1 in Charlotte last weekend, the program’s best start since 2000. UTSA swept Delaware, 30-28, 30-28, 30-27, and Charlotte, 30-24, 30-25, 30-25, before dropping the championship match to Middle Tennessee State, 30-21, 16-30, 11-30, 30-28, 8-15.

Junior outside hitters Meagan Daniel and Brittany Hildebrand both made the all-tournament team. Daniel posted 39 kills and 28 digs, while Hildebrand had 31 kills and hit .282 for the weekend.

Head coach Laura Neugebauer-Groff picked up her 300th career victory in the season opener against Delaware and now boasts a 301-117 overall record.

UTSA is 3-0 all-time against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, including a 30-19, 30-25, 30-28 sweep in San Antonio last season. This will be the season opener for the Islanders.
