SAN ANTONIO - UTSA junior Ashley McDonald has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team in the University Division for Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field.
A standout in the classroom and on the track, McDonald sports a perfect 4.00 grade point average in accounting and has been a member of the Dean’s List six times. Last fall, she finished eighth at the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships, earning All-SLC honors and helping the Roadrunners to a third-place team finish. A two-time SLC Athlete of the Week, McDonald was named the 2004 SLC Women’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Year.
On the track this spring, she finished eighth in the 10,000 meters at the SLC Outdoor Championships and 10th in the 5,000m at the SLC Indoor. McDonald, a two-time National Dean’s List honoree, is involved with the Golden Key Society and as a volunteer for the UTSA Women’s Walk Scholarship Fundraiser.
McDonald, also a first team Academic All-District VI selection, was one of 45 student-athletes — the only one from the SLC — voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First, Second and Third Teams.
