SAN ANTONIO - The Texas-San Antonio volleyball program has released the 2005 schedule, highlighted by the UTSA Dome Rally, a national-caliber tournament hosted at the Alamodome as a precursor to the NCAA Division I Championship in December.

The Roadrunners, who return all six starters and the libero from a 16-16 team in 2004, open the 2005 campaign on Sept. 2-3 at the Charlotte/SpringHill Suites Invitational in Charlotte, N.C., where they will face Delaware, Charlotte and Middle Tennessee State.

UTSA returns to Texas for a non-conference road match at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sept. 6 before hosting the UTSA Dome Rally on Sept. 9-11 at the Alamodome. The Roadrunners welcome several national powers to the Alamo City, including Southern California, Florida, Texas A&M and Notre Dame. The Roadrunners play LSU, Rice and Oklahoma in the eight-team event that will serve as a prelude to the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Semifinals and Championship hosted by UTSA on Dec. 15 and 17 at the Alamodome.

The Roadrunners open Southland Conference play at rival Texas State, the defending league tournament champions, on Sept. 13 before hosting their first true home game at the Convocation Center on Sept. 16 against Texas-Arlington. UTSA has three road games at Stephen F. Austin, McNeese State and Lamar before opening a five-match homestand from Sept. 30-Oct. 11 against Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, Northwestern State, Louisiana-Monroe and Texas State.

UTSA hits the road for four more conference matches from Oct. 14-25 and then returns home for home dates with McNeese State and Lamar on Oct. 28-29, a non-conference match with Northern Colorado on Oct. 30, and meetings with Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State on Nov. 4-5. The Roadrunners close out the regular season at Northwestern State and Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 11-12. The SLC Tournament will be hosted by Texas-Arlington on Nov. 18-20.
