SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Senior sprinters Rosalind Holmes and Curtis Johnson capped their stellar UTSA careers late Thursday on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Spanos Sports Complex.

Holmes opened her Thursday by finishing fifth in her preliminary heat of the women's 200 meters with a 23.67 clocking. The five-time Southland Conference champion then sped to a 23.64 in the semifinals, which was seventh in her heat and the 13th-fastest time overall. Holmes just missed the final field of nine by 0.41 seconds but her national showing was the best by a female sprinter since Tameka Roberts earned All-America honors in 1997. On Wednesday, Holmes finished 27th in the 100m with an 11.97 effort.

Johnson, a national semifinalist in the 200m on this same track in 2003, clocked a 21.80 to finish 27th in the preliminaries of the deuce. The three-time conference champion owns the fastest 200m recorded under any conditions, a wind-aided 20.71 turned in at the 2003 Midwest Regional, and is one of just two Roadrunners to ever go under 21 seconds.

In other action, junior T.R. Sissel (Junction, Texas) finished 25th in the men's 400m hurdles prelims, circling in 52.94. In late Wednesday action, junior All-American Ryanne Dupree (San Antonio/East Central) clocked a 14.00 to place 26th in the women's 100m hurdles prelims.

The NCAA Outdoor Championships continue Friday and Saturday with Dupree, the lone remaining Roadrunner still competing, looking for her second straight top-eight finish in the heptathlon.
