HAMMOND, La. - UTSA senior outfielder Jennifer Davis and junior designated player Amanda Horton were named to the 2005 Southland Conference Softball All-Tournament Team voted on by coaches and the media.
Davis batted .429 (6-for-14) with two runs scored and two runs batted in, while Horton hit .333 with one home run and two RBI as the SLC regular season champions Roadrunners went 2-2 in the tournament over the weekend.
UTSA won its first two games over McNeese State, 5-0, and Northwestern State, 4-1, before dropping a 3-0, 11-inning decision to Sam Houston State in the third round. McNeese State came all the way back from the 5-0 loss to defeat Texas-Arlington and Texas State before eliminating the Roadrunners, 4-3, on Sunday. The Cowgirls then double-dipped Sam Houston State, 5-1 and 2-0, to earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Roadrunners will await word of an outside shot at an at-large bid as the NCAA Softball selections are announced on Sunday, May 15.
