UTSA signs Allison Mueller to National Letter of Intent

SAN ANTONIO - The Texas-San Antonio volleyball program announced Thursday the signing of Allison Mueller (El Paso, Texas/Andress HS) to a National Letter of Intent.

Mueller is a 6-1 middle blocker who played her senior season at Andress High School in El Paso after three years at Manzano Fine Arts Academy in Albuquerque, N.M. She was an all-state selection at Manzano in 2003 and an all-region choice in 2002 and 2003. Mueller, who also competed for the Sunspots club team, was a member of the all-academic team for three years.

At Andress, she was injured for part of the season but still was an honorable mention all-district selection and voted to El Paso’s Top 10 Players to Watch list. An excellent student, Mueller graduated 12th out of her senior class of 537 and was a member of the National Honor Society. Literary Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Visual Arts Society and Quill and Scroll Journalism Society.

Mueller joins one fall signee Hrapmann, who lettered four years for Cabrini High School where she has been regarded as one of the top setters in the New Orleans area. She is a two-time all-state and three-time all-district selection, also picking up district MVP honors as a sophomore. Hrapmann helped lead the Crescents to the Louisiana Class 4A state title as a sophomore and as team captain led this year’s squad to the quarterfinal round of the state playoffs.

Hrapmann also is a standout performer in track and field for Cabrini, winning district titles as a sophomore and junior and a regional crown as a junior. She has been nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award and is active in numerous student organizations including Student Council where she serves as President, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society and St. Dominic Catholic Youth Organization.

“This is a talented group that will add a lot of size to our lineup,” head coach Laura Neugebauer-Groff said. “When you combine this recruiting class with our returning players, we will be as tall and as deep as we’ve ever been.”
