| April 24, 2005 Southeastern Louisiana run-rules UTSA Box Score The Roadrunners, who committed four errors leading to just seven of the runs being earned, fell to 19-25 on the season and 11-7 in the Southland Conference. The Roadrunners still won the weekend series 2-1, however, and still remain in one of the top four spots in the league standings. SLU improved to 19-23 and 8-10 in the conference. The contest began as a pitcher's duel as UTSA starter Caleb Barton surrendered just one hit in the first three innings, while Lion hurler Jeremy Mizell allowed three. The Lions broke the stalemate in the fourth as Kyle Ginn tripled to lead off and scored on a double-play ground-out two batters later. Barton, who allowed five runs in 5.0 innings, was tagged with the loss to fall to 3-6. He got the Roadrunners out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the fifth but was relieved in the sixth after Jason Waguespack's two-run double increased the Lion to 3-0. The Lions scored seven run on six hits in the sixth and added the deciding score in the run-rule shortened game in the seventh on a two-run home run by Trent Hebert to make it 10-0. Mizell picked up the complete-game win to move to 1-2 on the season. Sophomore Michael McKennon paced the Roadrunners at the plate by going 2-for-3. Sean Danielson moved his hitting streak to a team-leading 12 games with a single, and J.R. Voyles and Ryan Crew also added hits. The Roadrunners travel to College Station on Tuesday to face the Texas A&M Aggies at 6:30 p.m. at Olsen Field. |
