Ryanne Dupree named Southland Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week

PLANO, Texas - UTSA junior All-American Ryanne Dupree has been named Southland Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Spira Invitational last weekend, the league office announced Tuesday.

Dupree punched her ticket to the NCAA Midwest Regional in the long jump with a personal-best 19-11 measure to finish third overall and second among collegiate competitors. That mark ranks second on the latest conference performance list behind sophomore teammate Morgan Moszee (20-2 1/4).

The two-time conference champion also turned in a wind-aided 13.34 clocking to take third in the 100-meter hurdles, a time that ranks as the fastest in school history under any conditions but is not considered a school record due to the 4.5 meters-per-second wind reading. That time still leads the conference list and her wind-legal season best of 13.74 currently stands 12th on the latest Midwest Regional list.

Dupree, who is provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the heptathlon (5,298), also cleared a season-best 5-5 to tie for second in the high jump, measured 104-7 for sixth in the javelin and placed seventh in the shot put (35-3 3/4).

Dupree is the fourth Roadrunner to win the weekly honor outdoors as Latasha Sinclair and Rosalind Holmes were named Women’s Athlete of the Week on March 8 and 22, respectively, while freshman Luke Johnson received the men’s award on April 4.

UTSA will compete in the Michael Johnson Invitational this Saturday, April 23.
