Krystal Gibson named Southland Conference Softball co-Hitter of the Week

SAN ANTONIO - Senior Krystal Gibson (Spring, Texas) has been named Southland Conference Softball co-Hitter of the Week along with Northwestern State’s Shay Hunt, the league office announced Monday.

Gibson batted .412 (7-for-17) with two home runs, one double, three runs scored, five RBI and two walks for the week, helping UTSA to a 3-2 record against two of the top three teams in the conference standings. She also posted a slugging percentage of .824, an on-base percentage of .474 and a fielding percentage of 1.000. Gibson, a three-time all-conference selection at first base, had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI in an 8-2 win over Northwestern State in the rubber game of a three-game set with the conference leaders on March 23. She also had three hits, including a three-run home run, in a 12-3 rout of Texas State on March 25.

Gibson is the fourth Roadrunner chosen as Hitter or Pitcher of the Week as junior Jessica Rogers and sophomore Ursula Mares swept both honors on Feb. 15 and senior Jennifer Davis was tabbed Hitter of the Week on March 8.

The Roadrunners travel to Hammond, La., for a three-game conference series at Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday-Sunday, April 2-3.
