| March 20, 2005 UTSA takes third game of Louisiana-Monroe series, 10-8 Box Score Sophomore Ryan Saltzgaber went 3-for-3 at the plate with two triples and three RBIs, while senior Chris Lewis hit his third home run of the season in the third frame to give the home team a 5-4 it never relinquished. Junior J.R. Voyles continued his torrid pace at the plate in the series by going 2-for-4 with three runs scored, and six other Roadrunners registered a hit as UTSA pounded out 11 safeties. Junior Lee Todesco hit his first home of the season. UTSA junior relief pitcher Noah Tritz was credited with his first career win after coming in during the third inning to spell starter Caleb Barton. Tritz tossed four complete innings and allowed just two runs while striking out three to improve to 1-1. Sophomore Blake Brannon made his team-leading 14th appearance in the seventh inning and quelled a two-run ninth inning Indian rally for his first career save. The Roadrunners chased out Indian starter Danny Borne, who took the loss, in the sixth inning. Borne allowed nine of UTSA's 10 runs, but only five were earned as ULM committed six errors. The Roadrunner spotted the Indians a 3-0 lead after one-and-a-half innings but rallied to tie the game at three in their half of the second. Two Indian throwing errors allowed Lewis and Todesco to score the first two runs, and Saltzgaber's sacrifice fly scored Voyles with the third. The visitors tacked on a single run in the third inning for a 4-3 advantage, but the Roadrunners answered with a pair of tally marks in the fourth for the lead. Senior Sean Danielson led off by reaching on an fielding error and later moved all the way to third on a throwing error on Indian catcher Tony Lamothe. Junior Ryan Crew, who was the lone Roadrunner not recording a hit, tallied an RBI on a groundout to score Danielson. On a 1-0 offering from Borne, Lewis then cranked a monster shot to left field that ricocheted off a Chapparal Village building on the bounce. The Roadrunners scored three more in the fifth for an 8-4 lead before ULM countered with a single tally in the fifth. UTSA notched another run in the sixth for a 9-5 advantage and led 10-6 going into the top of the ninth. Dexter Fontenot smashed a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall for a two-run homer, but Brannon coaxed a pop out to right field and a ground out to second to end the game. Lamothe led the Indians' offensive attack, which produced 12 hits, by going 4-for-5. Fontenot was 2-for-3. The Roadrunners are idle this week before beginning a three-game league set with Texas State next weekend. The first game of the series is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 25 in San Marcos.
