UTSA golfers head to Virgin Islands for St. Croix Collegiate Classic
SAN ANTONIO - Coming off a fifth-place showing at the UTSA Intercollegiate earlier this week, the UTSA men’s golf team will travel to the Virgin Islands to compete in the Second Annual St. Croix Collegiate Classic held Friday-Sunday, March 4-6, at Carambola Golf Club (6,809 yards, par 72).
The Roadrunners will be competing over 54 holes against teams from Akron, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State, Lamar, Marquette, Marshall, Miami (Ohio), Memphis, UNC Greensboro, Ohio, Ohio State, Rhode Island, Wisconsin and Xavier, the tournament host.
UTSA finished fifth with a 17-over-par 285-293-291=869 at the UTSA Intercollegiate on Feb. 28-March 1 at Oak Hills Country Club. Junior John Elizondo and freshman Nick Olivarri led the way, tying for 17th place at five-over 218. playing as an individual, freshman Shane Costelloe, who hails from the island of Trinidad, also finished 17th playing as an individual.
