Box Score

SAN ANTONIO - UTSA's hopes for a first round home game in next week's O'Reilly Auto Parts Southland Conference Tournament remain alive after the Roadrunners rallied from 15 points down in the second half to defeat Stephen F. Austin 69-65 on Tuesday night at the Convocation Center.

UTSA, which improved to 14-12 overall and 9-6 in conference play, was led by John Millsap with 17 points, while Justin Harbert added 14, Anthony Fuqua, 13, and Rapheal Posey, 10. All four leading scorers were seniors playing in their final home regular season game. With the win, UTSA maintained its hold on fourth place in the SLC standings.

The Lumberjacks, 12-14 and 6-9, were led by Josh Porter with 13 points, while Hank Rivers and Anthony Paez scored 11 apiece.

Trailing 47-32 after a Marcus Clark field goal with 18:30 remaining, UTSA slowly began to chip away at the SFA lead.

Still trailing 64-54 with 6:36 remaining, UTSA closed the game on a 15-1 run. The Roadrunners, who connected on 13 of 16 second half field goal attempts, grabbed their first lead since early in the first half when Posey connected on a 3-point field goal with 2:01 to play.

Posey added a layup with 1:18 to play to give the Roadrunners a 68-65 lead.

Fuqua, who had all 13 of his points in the scond half, closed the scoring by connecting on a free throw with 34 seconds to play. SFA missed their final seven shots from the field.

"I thought our seniors played an inspired game down the stretch," said UTSA coach Tim Carter. "We ran our offense very well and got good shots on each possession. Being down 15 points we knew that we had to play outstanding defense and every time we had the basketball we needed a good shot."

For the game the Roadrunners shot 23 of 39 (59.0%) from the field and 20 of 34 from the free throw line.

UTSA closes the regular season this Friday, March 4 with a 7:30 game at Texas State. The Roadrunners will be looking for the season sweep of the Bobcats, after scoring an 88-69 win over Texas State on Feb. 12 in San Antonio.
